Each visit feels like stepping into a culinary celebration of Oaxaca, Mexico—an exploration of rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and authentic traditions that never fails to impress. And if you’re wondering, yes, I tend to stick with my usual: the same delicious dish; Tuetano, two roasted beef bone marrow, lamb with chimichurri and hand made blue tortillas, paired with my favorite drink, an Old Fashioned smoked.    But every once in a while, something special calls to me, and this time it was their Día de los Muertos menu. The restaurant curated a special menu for the occasion, available all day, and I couldn’t resist diving in to try a few new things. First off, their new drink selecti

Sushi Hayakawa

Sushi Hayakawa 1055 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta GA 30318 (770) 986-0010 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐  5-Stars UPDATE: This restaurant has moved from its original location on Buford Hwy and since then has been awarded their second Michelin Star. This restaurant is my favorite sushi house of all time, the chef, Atsushi (Art) Hayakawa was the sushi chef at Atlanta's MF Sushi bar in Midtown. www.sushihayakawa.com At the moment I step through the doors and pull the curtain to walk in everyone yells Greetings in Japanese. I always sit at my table and order unlimited refills of hot green tea and start eating away at my delicious dinner. On this trip to the restaurant, I again brought in a newbie; it was just after Christmas and the restaurant was so full there were patrons waiting in line at the door. Good thing we had reservations so we could deliver this review on the blog! We got seated at the sushi bar, and decided on what to drink, I always got my green tea, but asked if they had the Koji Blueberry

Montreal Visit

Back home to visit my college friend Josie! We had dinner and drinks while catching up on love life, work, and family.

The Select: City Springs

6405 Blue Stone Rd Suite 200, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 Phone:  (770) 637-2240 Menu :   theselectatl.com  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4-Stars This restaurant though not new to the area, is next to the City Hall/Performing Arts Center. After many recommendations I want to say that I finally tried out this restaurant. We didn't have reservations, so we walked in a grabbed a table for six. We all started with drinks. My friend had the Dragonbird which came in a bird glass. I had the House Old Fashioned, and another friend tried the Grantham. The drinks were good, so now we moved on the appetizers. I ordered a (Butcher's Block) charcuterie board for the table and Duck Meatballs. For dinner, our table selected the Lamb Burger, the Roasted Chicken, the Pasta Primavera and the Seafood pasta. The Food tasted great too even though the portions looked small, it was satisfying. So much so that we didn't even order dessert, instead we talked and had a great time.

Roc South Cuisine

Roc South Cuisine 3009 Buford Hwy NE Brookhaven, GA 30329 (404) 481-5915 ⭐ STAR Review Amidst glowing reviews, I received an invitation to a birthday celebration at a highly acclaimed restaurant. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by its modern and chic ambiance—a stark contrast to the comforting allure of its soul food offerings. Despite the tempting array of dishes on the menu, I couldn't resist indulging in the classics: fried chicken, collard greens, and potatoes. As I eagerly awaited my meal, I couldn't help but notice the mixed feedback from other patrons—many echoing sentiments of being able to replicate the dishes at home with greater success. Nevertheless, when my plate arrived, I couldn't deny the appeal of the perfectly crispy fried chicken, the hearty greens, and the comforting potatoes. While the reviews may have cast doubt, one bite was all it took to reaffirm the restaurant's dedication to delivering soulful flavors that, while perhaps familiar, st

Loving Hut - Vegan Restaurant (Norcross)

Loving Hut  Loving Hut USA Website 6385 Spalding Drive, Suite E, Peachtree Corners, GA  30092 Phone :  (404) 941-7992 ⭐⭐⭐ 3-Star UPDATE: I am sad to say that the big location in Sandy Springs closed down so we have to travel to Norcross to get good food. Where do I Start... Everything is so tasty!!! I have not yet sampled the appetizers nor the raw dishes because I love the main dishes so much I don't even need to open my appetite. The Soups are great and very flavorful: I've tried the wonton soup; the broth is very authentic tasting, but the wontons are very small in quantity. The miso soup is authentic tasting as well. However the Curry Lentil Soup is amazing. It is more like a curry dish than soup but it's so tasty. Entrees are super yummy too! I've had the Fried Rice which has that authentic taste but I still have to spice it up. So sometimes the Thai Basil is what I prefer to eat. The House Curry dish is super authentic tasting, it's li

Tsunami Taqueria

Tsunami Taqueria 5825 Roswell Rd NE Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30328 Phone :  (678) 310-1074 Local Latin-Asian fusion chain serving tacos, quesadillas & bowls in a relaxed, stylish space. Our favorite restaurant hadn't opened for the evening yet so we decided to come check out the new spot for this buckhead taqueria. This restaurant is not hard to find but it is hard to access with the high volume road traffic. The menu was like a typical taqueria spot. I would like to highlight the appetizers that we had. The empanadas: we had the choice to pick from ground beef, chicken as well as pulled beef. So we ordered them all. The empanadas looked just like our authentic ones except the chicken tasted like an egg roll. The beef ones were very tasty. The waitress brought us different dipping sauces as well. That was a nice touch. The ones we tried were the salsa verde; it was really mild and watery, the spicy mayo: good taste, and the sweet chilli, which was a go

Taki Japanese Sushi

Image
Taki Japanese 4711 Ashford Dunwoody Road Dunwoody GA. 30338 This restaurant took over the old nightclub spot at the end of the WalMart strip. My friend Steven from Home Depot made friends with the owner or builder so we went to check it out and ate dinner there. The first time I could remember it was good. So I went again for the NAAAP Networking gathering and the appetizers were good.  I went back with Steven this time, and we had sushi dinner only: I ordered 3 types of sushi rolls: the Lobster King Crab and he ordered the Spider roll. Both were not very tasty and not very good. The temperature was off and the rice was dry. We did Hibachi this time and my co-workers weren't impressed. I ordered sushi again, this time I stuck to the basic and ordered the California rolls. The guy wanted to give me hibachi food but I didn't want any. This place is not worth the money or the taste buds. Not going there again... Even with a 50% ScoutMob.

The Red Snapper (Temp closed)

The Red Snapper 2100 Cheshire Bridge Road N.E. Atlanta, GA 30324 Tel: (404) 634-8947 For Greg's birthday we decided to try something different, this pick ended up being fusion of Creole-Thai style cuisine. Hidden on the Cheshire Bridge strip is the restaurant with a bright red neon sign on the road. The staff were a mix of Asian and Caucasian which was very interesting. The bar area was empty, but the dining room area was quietly buzzing with a few patrons scattered around the room of white table cloths with candles. We started off with Moscato Spumanti, Chardonnay, and a Pinot Noir. Our picks for the appetizers were Oysters Sara on a bed of cream spinach and the seafood gumbo.  The oysters were crispy on the outside; seasoned and cooked to perfection. Both the oysters and creamed spinach with mushrooms paired well together with the wonderful Hollandaise sauce.  The gumbo was a very dark colored roux with pieces of andouille sausage, crawfish, shrimp and celery that pa
