As a long-time patron of this incredible restaurant, I've had the pleasure of experiencing its evolving menu since the very beginning. Each visit feels like stepping into a culinary celebration of Oaxaca, Mexico—an exploration of rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and authentic traditions that never fails to impress. And if you’re wondering, yes, I tend to stick with my usual: the same delicious dish; Tuetano, two roasted beef bone marrow, lamb with chimichurri and hand made blue tortillas, paired with my favorite drink, an Old Fashioned smoked.
But every once in a while, something special calls to me, and this time it was their Día de los Muertos menu.
The restaurant curated a special menu for the occasion, available all day, and I couldn’t resist diving in to try a few new things. First off, their new drink selection had me intrigued. I opted for a seasonal cocktail that was as visually stunning as it was flavorful—a perfect complement to the savory Oaxacan dishes I was about to enjoy.
Next up, I indulged in a new appetizer. It was a delightful fusion of flavors, with a delicate balance of smoky, spicy, and tangy notes that perfectly set the tone for the meal ahead. You could taste the attention to detail in every bite, which is something that’s always a hallmark of this restaurant. It's clear they care about crafting authentic dishes that not only highlight Oaxacan ingredients but also bring them to life in a way that surprises and delights the palate.
As for dessert, wow. I decided to try something I hadn’t before, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. It was a rich and indulgent treat that balanced sweetness with just a touch of spice, bringing the whole meal to a perfect, satisfying close.
I left the restaurant with my mouth still watering, already anticipating my next visit. It’s a rare thing to find a restaurant that not only maintains but constantly elevates its offerings with every visit. Whether it’s the familiar comfort of my go-to dish or the excitement of discovering something new, I can always count on this place to deliver. And if you’re lucky enough to catch one of their special menus, like the Día de los Muertos offerings, you’re in for a real treat.
In short, if you’re looking for a truly authentic and unforgettable taste of Oaxaca, this restaurant should be at the top of your list. I can't recommend it enough.
If you are adventurous, try the Chef's tasting menu!
